Activities

This is a key role to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the domestic electrical services and appliance installation and repair within the home.

An Electrical Service Engineer is responsible for domestic installations within the home environment and this will include rewiring, fault finding and working with remote central heating control systems and equipment.

This type of engineer must ensure the safe and reliable operation of equipment, so technical expertise in the effective operation of domestic electrical systems to meet the relevant safety and technical standards is essential.

As this role requires the engineer to work with customers in their own homes, they must deliver professional, friendly advice and guidance to customers; so good social skills will be useful.

Knowledge of the most up to date technology for communication and support diagnoses purposes will be required.

All activity must be delivered to a high standard and in accordance with compliance of Safe working, Health and Safety and Industry standards and procedures.

Activity should be delivered effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner to a high level of customer service.

Training/ Qualifications

This role required an industry Trade Apprenticeship and/or S/NVQ Level 3 certification or equivalent.

Progression opportunities

There may be opportunities to progress into supervisory or line management position. With relevant experience there will be openings into other general or specialist roles in Health and Safety. Subject to undertaking further personal development, the role could progress into specialist areas within the Energy Services or Domestic Appliance sector.
